Plan Your Visit to Mary Jo Peckham Park
Mary Jo Peckham Park is small but full: free mini golf, an indoor pool, a stocked fishing lake and a three-story playground. Here's how to plan a family afternoon around the center's hours.
A family afternoon
Borrow clubs and balls free at the Aquatic & Fitness Center's front desk for the two mini golf courses and putting green, then climb the rebuilt three-story playground and walk the 1.02-mile loop around the lake. Mini golf follows the center's hours, so plan to finish before it closes.
Swimmers and gym-goers
The indoor short-course pool and gym, open year-round since 1994, offer free fitness classes; some programs need registration. Call 832-927-8890 for schedules.
Anglers
The Neighborhood Fishin' lake is stocked with channel catfish in summer and rainbow trout in winter. Kids under 17 fish free; adults need a Texas license with a freshwater endorsement. Pole and line only, two poles per person, 5 fish a day.
Free extras
A six-hole disc golf course, basketball courts, exercise stations and a senior outdoor exercise area are free and first come, first served; bring your own discs and ball.
