Free Mini Golf & the Putting Green
One of the best free outings in Katy: Mary Jo Peckham Park has two full miniature golf courses and a putting green. Just ask at the Aquatic & Fitness Center desk for clubs and balls.
What's here
- Two full miniature golf courses.
- A putting green.
- Clubs and balls lent at the Aquatic & Fitness Center.
Good to know
Borrow clubs and balls at the center's front desk during its hours (Mon.–Fri. 7 a.m.–7 p.m., Sat. 8 a.m.–5:30 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m.); listings note earlier return times for mini golf on weekends, so plan to finish before the center closes.
How it works
Walk into the Aquatic & Fitness Center, ask at the desk, and you'll be handed putters and balls. Play one course or both, then return the equipment. There's no charge, which makes it a favorite rainy-week and summer-break outing for Katy families.
The courses
The two courses are outdoor mini golf, easy enough for young children and fun for adults too. The separate putting green is handy for golfers who just want to work on their stroke.
Tips
Go in the morning in summer: the courses are in full sun and get hot by afternoon. Bring water and sunscreen. Return clubs before the center closes, and keep an eye on small children around the lake nearby.
Make it a day
Combine mini golf with the playground, a picnic at the pavilion and an hour of fishing, all within a short walk of the parking lot.
